Sarah Laird
Provisional Psychologist
---
As a provisional psychologist, Sarah (she/her) is currently undergoing a two-year internship towards general registration. She approaches her work from an attachment-informed, evidence-based framework, aiming to provide personalised care. Sarah’s approach is characterised by warmth, curiosity, and good humour, as she strives to understand her clients’ lived experiences.
Sarah strongly believes in comprehensive, wrap-around care, recognizing that individuals cannot be effectively treated in isolation from their physical and social systems. She follows a client-centred approach, aiming to establish relationships with her clients that are rooted in honesty, compassion, and non-judgment.
Sarah’s main area of interest lies in working with individuals and families facing the challenges associated with eating disorders, gender identity, trauma and neurodiversity. She also has an interest in working with people experiencing mood and personality disorders, anxiety, low self-esteem, major life changes or disruptions, and relationship concerns.
Sarah is a provisional psychologist and is currently undergoing training in several therapeutic modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
These modalities provide her with a diverse set of tools and techniques to support her clients effectively.
