Accessing care
All you need to know about seeking support.
How you might be feeling
We know it takes courage to talk to someone about how you’re feeling. And we know that seeing a therapist can feel like a big step.
You might be unsure as to if or how we can help. Are we the right clinic for you? Who should I see?
We understand.
Sometimes there may be clear indicators that something is wrong. Other times, it might be more of a feeling of not being ‘quite right’.
To assist, we’ve outlined all you need to know about seeking support. However, if you’re feeling confused or unsure, the best thing you can do is talk to someone about it.
Seeking support + accessing care
Is therapy right for me?
People often ask us, “Is therapy right for me at this point in time?”
For this reason, we offer free 20-minute consultations to answer any questions you may have.
You can book a free consultation by emailing or calling us.
Do I need a referral?
While we welcome referrals from medical professionals, you don’t need a referral to make an appointment.
A Medicare referral, however, will enable you to access rebates from Medicare (sessions limited depending on which referral you can access).
How much does it cost?
Standard appointments are 50 minutes and are available in person or via telehealth. Please note some clinicians’ fees are set higher.
Clinical Psychologist: Full Fee $265 (Medicare rebate $141.85)
General Psychologist: Full Fee $225 (Medicare rebate $96.65)
Accredited Mental Health Social Worker: Full Fee $225 (Medicare rebate $85.20)
*Concession fees are available at the discretion of your clinician. Please discuss this with our admin team.
Medicare rebates are available only with a valid referral from a medical professional. Depending on which referral you are eligible for, you will be entitled to Medicare rebates for a certain amount of sessions.
If you hold private health cover, you may also be able to claim a rebate through your provider. Axis Clinic is unable to process private health rebates.
Please be aware there is a surcharge of $20 for any appointment held 5 pm or later on weekdays.
Please check with reception for fees for couple and family therapy, and assessments. Please note a Medicare rebate is not currently available for these services.
We also accept DVA, NDIS self- managed and plan-managed funded clients, Workcover Qld and under insurance claims. Please speak to our admin team if you are seeking therapy through these or any other.
Cancellations
If, for some reason, you need to cancel or postpone the appointment please give at least 48 hours notice (excluding weekends and public holidays). In this case, there will be no cancellation fee.
Cancellations between 48 hours and 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) prior to your appointment will incur a charge of 50% of the consultation fee.
Cancellations less than 24 hours (excluding weekends) prior to your appointment will incur a charge of 100% of the consultation fee.
If we are able to fill the appointment, then you will not be charged. We do try hard to replace all appointments, but it is not always possible. Medicare rebates are not available for rescheduled or cancelled appointments.
